Preston is a city of open spaces and the people are taking part in many events being held in the city. One such even is cycling. Sky stages free cycling events in Preston and it is known as Skyride. It is supported by British Cycling. It is initiating free led cycling events across Preston to encourage local people to get out on their bikes.This event will be hosted from 11th October to early November and will be led by fully trained cycle leaders encompassing everything from the countryside to local sights. Those who are interested can pick a level to suit their age and ability and will be given a hi-visibility vest and a t-shirt for the event that they can keep. These events are free of cost and will be hosted throughout half term offering a great day out for families. The first event to be held was the Broadgate Bridge Bash on Sunday 11 October. It involves of a gentle ride along both sides of River Ribble for the length of approximately 4.3 Km taking abut an hour of time. It is suitable for young families.
Another cycling event was held on Sunday 18 October and is known as Fylde Loop. It is a long ride staring from the city up to Fylde countryside the length of the ride will approximately be 37 Km taking about 3 to 4 hours. The next ride is known as A Ride to Plum Pudding Lane and is held on Sunday 25 October. It is easily accessible from urban location and moves into open countryside. The length of this ride is approximately 24 Km and it takes about 2 to 3 hours to complete. Preston Marina Loop was held on Monday 26 October and it rides along both sides of River Ribble to the Dock entrance. It is suitable for Teen Families and the time taken is one hour and it has approximately 11 km long.The Tickled Trout Trail was held on Wednesday 28 October, it is a quiet ride along River Ribble, and the length is approximately 11 Km and takes about 1 to1.5 hours. The Broadgate Bridge Bash was held on Friday 30 October. It is a gentle ride along both sides of River Ribble and it takes around one hour to complete and you have to cycle approximately 4.3 Km. Inglewhite Broughton was held on Sunday 8 November and it comprises of quiet country lanes with a length of 23 Km and takes 2 to 3 hours time to complete. |
